| once upon a time there was a great library, at the beginning of the 3rd century B.C., but it was sadly destroyed by fire. Now, after hundreds of years and in conjunction with UNESCO, the Egyptian government was determined to bring back the glory of this library by rebuilding a brand new one in a breathtaking location overlooking the sea. A marvelous design, this building has now become a focal point for culture, education and science. If you want to be part of that story, you should really give the library a visit. |

| Fort Qaitbay is the site of Pharos Lighthouse, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The fort was built in the 15th century for the Mamluke sultan as a coastal defense system.
